In 1977, we started First California Mortgage Company and began to provide loans to new home buyers, helping to fund California’s explosive growth. Over time, we expanded our operation across the country, and, at one point, made loans in 42 states. First California Mortgage Company was sold to a Fortune 100 company in the mid 1990s. By then, it had earned its stellar reputation by virtue of its lending expertise and by its track record of outstanding service.

Today’s First Cal continues in that same spirit. Again, we are guided by a commitment to fair pricing and flexible financing for consumers. A company on the move, we insist on employing people who want to help customers meet goals, and who are willing to sharpen their skills through ongoing, specialized training.

Our new organization is by no means merely a replica of the old. Though steeped in a tradition of old fashioned good service, First Cal is alertly in step with the rapidly evolving West. In 1977, to help guide the state's expansive growth, we created First California Mortgage Company, which provided builder and retail financing. We established Headlands Mortgage Company as a wholesale division. In addition, we expanded First Cal's operation across the country, at one time originating loans in 42 states. The original First Cal was sold to a Fortune 100 company in the mid 1990s.

Today, First Cal continues the same spirit of personalized service and professionalism, guided by a commitment to fair pricing for Californians.
